TRUTH-BE-TOLD PROJECT
ABOUT

All across the country, women are struggling with their weight. They’re struggling with obstacles that have kept them from eating better, moving more and making their health a priority. They’re struggling to adopt the lifestyles they need to fend off preventable disease, live longer and spend less on health care. They're living in a vicious cycle of temporary change fueled by quick-fix solutions-- as a result, many of their achievements are short lived. For African-American women, "the struggle" is especially challenging, typical diet and exercise programs-- while tolerant and inclusive-- fail to consider the social, cultural and national experiences known to create differences in length and quality of life; rates of disease, disability and death; severity of disease; and access to treatment. Did you know that African American women have the highest rates of obesity compared to other groups in the U.S?

We can change that.

The Truth-Be-Told Project is a resource that will help us understand how we can end the vicious cycle of temporary change. Your videos will allow us to partner, advocate, educate and increase access to culturally competent fitness, nutrition, and wellness information that can help African American women become more responsible, empowered and personally accountable for making positive, long-term, lifestyle changes.
